10-Second Climate
And miles to go before I sleep / Robert Frost
Climate & energy are changing everything.
A new age of cheap, abundant energy beckons. Yet we’re not cutting emissions fast enough to avoid serious consequences.
A new world is coming - one way or another.
This is the fastest way to keep up.

What mattered this week
How big would Carbon Capture be, to stop climate change? Second biggest industry in the world 😱
It works, but costs? Sort of works. Cost a lot. But we’d need to get rid of 10bn tonnes. Call it $1T a year. Will we really spend that to clean up an ongoing mess?
Why does it matter? Fossilists say we can suck down carbon, thereby justifying sending it up.

COP: Governments argue but business gets on with it
What happened? Annual inter-governmental climate talks ended with… almost nothing.
Does it matter anymore? Tbh, not really. Progress is coming from the private sector. As always.

Ninth country goes 100% renewable… The Vatican 😇
Every little helps? Suppose so. Vatican built solar on a farm it owns outside Rome. Kind easy, for them.
Who are the first eigh? Joins Albania, Bhutan, Nepal, Paraguay, Iceland, Ethiopia, and the DRC with clean power grids.

One thing to worry about
Serious floods this week in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Millions displaced.
Hundreds killed.
Hotter air = more moisture, big dumps of rain.
We’re going to need to adapt - on a global scale (Channel News Asia).
One thing to be optimistic about
BMW launched an EV that does 1000km (621 miles) on a single charge (Autoblog).
And Tesla have filed a patent for a battery that will last for ONE MILLION miles 🤭(@jigarshahdc)
The tech is coming. Fast. 🥳
If you’ve got more time…
Arguably the most important issue for UK industry right now: Why are our energy prices so high?
Sky News has a useful explainer.
