War: Asia shifts back to coal

Panic? Yes. Japan: No Gulf LNG coming? Burn Australian coal. Across Asia, coal prices up 13% and power plants being switched back on.
Reality? No-one is abandoning renewables - they’re opening old plants while under short-term stress.

How big? Wind got to 24GWe and 10GWe solar - in March. Domestic, clean power that no-one can blockade.

We’re only feeling 9% of the warming problem. The other 91% is being stored. In the oceans.

One thing to be optimistic about

Clean energy doesn’t stop wars. It just makes them less relevant.

  • EVs are already displacing 70% of the oil affected by the Iran war, and sales are accelerating hard across Europe and Asia

  • China is saving $28B in oil imports this year alone.
